What exactly is Sustainable Living?

Think of a lifestyle that meets the health and well-being of our environment. A way of living that is improving the ecological, social and economic conditions of the planet and the people living here. This way of life is called Sustainable Living or Sustainable Lifestyle.

It may come to your mind that what are the main features of a sustainable lifestyle? So here you go:

1. A sustainable lifestyle is focused on energy efficiency. Energy/Power is generated using clean and green resources like solar, hydro, tidal etc.. This energy is then efficiently utilized by smart and energy-efficient appliances.

2. A sustainable lifestyle makes this world a clean and green world. It ensures that there is no use of non-recyclable material. It encourages the reduction of waste materials, and reusing and recycling the materials wherever possible.

3. A sustainable lifestyle is much more inclined towards minimalism. It ensures that there is always responsible consumption which means no excessive packaging and conscious shopping according to the needs and requirements so that the waste can be minimized.

4. A sustainable lifestyle encourages healthy transportation. It recommends that people walk or cycle so that their health can be maintained. People are recommended to use public transportation so that there are fewer vehicles on the road and hence less carbon footprints. Fuel-efficient and Electric Vehicles are considered as an alternative to conventional transportation.

Why is a sustainable lifestyle the need of the time?

A sustainable lifestyle helps us to live a healthy life. It ensures that every living being is provided with clear air and water as these are the most essential requirements of life. It discourages the exposure of toxic chemicals and products that can cause damage to the surroundings.
A sustainable lifestyle is similarly beneficial for our economies. It encourages the smart and efficient production and consumption of materials and products such that an ecosystem is created where the economy will thrive.
