Daily Sustainable Swaps - Living a Green Zero-Waste Lifestyle | Sustainable Living

When you decide to make a transition in your lifestyle from conventional to a greener, sustainable and zero-waste lifestyle, then you must make some routine changes. These little changes are called Daily Sustainable Swaps. Although it may seem very trivial to you, but, by adopting these changes you can play your role towards a sustainable world.

1. Instead of using plastic straws, you should use reusable straws.

2. Do not throw your old clothes in the garbage, instead, you can mend them or cut them into rags so that they can be used for cleaning purposes.

3. Always use reusable shopping bags (either made up of paper or stuff like that) instead of plastic bags.

4. For shorter distances, always try to walk, jog or cycle. Do not use vehicles or transportation for small distances.

5. Use reusable water bottles instead of plastic water bottles. You can get a variety of these bottles from your local market.

6. Do not bathe unless there is an emergency. Instead, you should go to take a shower. This will save a huge amount of water.

7. Instead of buying a plastic shampoo bottle, always buy solid shampoo bar.

8. Do not use herbs that are available in plastic packaging. Instead, learn how to grow the most common herbs at your home.

9. Avoid purchasing all those products that are wrapped in plastic.

10. You must try to purchase from your local market to support your local farmer and boost your local economy.

11. While you are purchasing your clothing, always try to buy from brands that are working on sustainable development.

12. Instead of throwing your organic or food waste in landfills, try to stack it with food scraps. It will rot with time and decompose, leaving behind a nutritious manure for your gardens.

13. Try to use digital (soft) copies of your documents where possible instead of print (hard) copies. This will save you paper and ink.
